Welcome to the web site of the Williamsport Chess Club.

The Williamsport Chess Club has two meetings most weeks. Saturday mornings we meet from 10:00 a.m.  to 1:00 p.m. in the coffee shop area of the Books-A-Million store in the Lycoming Mall. We also meet every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., also in the coffee shop area of the Books-A-Million store.

Club meetings are open to anyone with an interest in the game of chess, regardless of age or ability. Stop by anytime during the posted meeting hours.

Chess Lessons

We will be resuming our very popular chess lessons at the James V. Brown Library starting Thursday, September 11, at 5:30 p.m. This year we will have 2 “classes”, one for beginners and an advanced class for those who have a basic understanding of the game. These classes are open to anyone regardless of age, though generally we recommend 6 or 7 as a reasonable age to start learning the game. No advance registration is necessary. We’ll meet either in the Library’s Welch wing 2nd floor Teen/Tween area or the 3rd floor Lowry conference room. These chess lessons are free and open to the public. Please share with family, friends, etc. who may have children (or themselves) interested in learning the game. For more information, e-mail: info@williamsportchessclub.org.
